Slow Down, Sweetie…

Slowing down when everything around you seems to be going fast, and getting faster...is NOT easy.

Does this ever happen to you?

The last few weeks, I notice things speeding up around me. The schedule is full at work, in my personal life, and with things near and dear to me (my heart projects), and I feel the strong pull to stay on this speeding train, to keep up with the expectations, the requests, the momentum I feel all around me.

I feel immobilized in the middle of this intensity, simply noticing the chatter of the mind that says: it's not enough, you're wasting time, you should be able to handle all of this, you've gotta keep up or you'll be left behind...

Sometimes it feels like I'm losing ground, unable to breathe as I try to keep up with this pace, and the illusion that my worth comes from what I DO and accomplish today.

The thing is my body is telling me it needs to SLOW DOWN again. It needs rest, it's tired. It's craving a more grounded pace.

The yellow and red flags I've learned to see and feel over time, showing me my next steps clearly: leave the growing TO DO list there, and take care of your body, your mind....

Learning how to tune in and hear your inner call (and permission) to slow down and trust the bigger unfolding is an art, a dance with life in every moment.

As I listened to this call to just BE, to rest, to slow down and tune in, this last week, I am reminded that:

  • When we're overwhelmed, clarity and inner peace always comes from slowing down, not speeding up.

  • Speedy "get er done" mode makes it easier to forget our inner compass and get caught up in taking actions that match with what we think others expect of us. This always produces exhaustion and resentment.

  • Honour where you are right now. Especially when it is tempting to compare to where others are, or seem to be.

You came here to live and express a unique life force.  You can trust that.

Our inner peace and happiness comes from our feet lovingly planted in our own truth AND the other "things" always fall into place when we can tune in, and take care of ourselves first.

I'd love to hear your experiences, inbox me or share in the comments below. Where are you craving to give yourself permission to slow down, to take action that is contrary to the outside pull? How do you do this?

Yours in slowing down,

Charmaine xox
